Adding Personal Touches To Your Home

If you've read my Learning To Live Alone post, you'll be aware that I live on my own in a one bed flat. In that post, I gave some tips on how to deal with being a one man/woman band and how to make your living area a little more like home. One of the things I touched on was getting creative and I have done this through making collages on cork boards with lots of little mementos from my life.

Now, if you're like me you're constantly taking photos of things, just so you don't forget them in the future and can look back on all your lush photos from your younger years. This is great, it allows me to be creative and to be able to look back at hilarious things, however it means I have about a zillion photos on my laptop and iMac (which I must add, aren't the same photos) and I constantly have about 2000 photos on my camera roll. This can be an absolute pain in the ass. Truth be told, I never really look back through the ones on my laptop or my iMac, only if i'm really searching for something and also get annoyed when my phone memory is full.

This is where is comes to printing of your favourite photos and the lovely brand Printiki.

Despite absolutely loving living in South Wales, and never ever wanting to leave. I do get pangs of home sickness, especially when I'm having a tough time (Which is definitely way to frequent at the moment, if you're also struggling have a read of one of my latest posts here, it may help you out). To help me through these rubbish times, I like to remind myself that I am surrounded by awesome people, and that the world is a bloody beautiful place, no matter how dark it may seem at times.

About every six months, I like to print off some of my latest favourite photos. When printing photos, I love to do a combination between photos of myself and friends, myself and James and then some of my favourite scenic photographs I have taken. I think that this breaks up how you display your photos, but for me, it is so lovely to see my favourite places displayed in my room, as well as my favourite people.

To display my photos, I decided to clip them onto these cute gold fairy lights that I got for christmas last year. These fairy lights are hung on my wall just above my desk, it adds a cosy vibe to my room when the lights are on and is the perfect accompaniment to my desk space. As I'm slightly pedantic, I like to alternate scenic photos and photos with people in. I think it looks nicer and breaks up too many faces staring back at me whilst I'm trying to get on with work.

I opted for the Medium Square prints and I am so bloody glad I did. They're a really good size and look super clean and neat displayed on my wall. Printiki offer a ton of options for printing, you can get various prints including retro (more like a polaroid) style, regular styles, medium and large prints.  On your prints, you can also get text added on and change the background colour - I decided not to do this, as I already have some coloured prints, and I write on my own polaroid prints so I thought this would be slightly different to what I already have. As well as this, they offer other services such as photo books and posters, which are both perfect to use for presents.

I absolutely love the way this turned out. I think the photos look so cute against the gold fairy lights and I'm so happy that I decided to stick with the white background as it works really well.  I still have some prints left over as I ordered 30, but I may use these on another collage pin board that I'm going to be creating.

I'd love to know how you display your printed photos?
*I was gifted these prints by Printiki, however as always, all views are my own.
