Finding An Affordable Signature Scent

If you're anything like me, you have a ton of perfume bottles that you've collected through various birthdays and Christmases, that you proudly display somewhere in your humble abode. Again, if you're anything like me, most of these bottles are drastically lacking in containing actual perfume. In about 8 bottles of perfume that I own, combined there is probably only about half a bottles worth..

This is where it comes down to finding an affordable signature scent. Now, I bloody love Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss and Paco Rabanne, if I'm ever lusting over perfume, it is definitely those three brands that I am reaching for. However, this is extremely costly, and for someone like me that doesn't have a large income, this is a problem.

Have you ever thought about heading to your favourite high street shop for a fragrance?

If you're a regular high street shopper, you may have spotted fragrances in your local shops such as New Look, H&M, River Island and Zara. I used to own a fragrance from New Look, however it wasn't something I constantly reached for in the morning so it slipped to the back of my mind, and now I couldn't even tell you where it was.

After mooching around Cardiff shops with my friend, Polly, I stumbled upon the Zara fragrance section and oh boy, was I in for a treat?! Leaving Polly to it, I was deeply invested in smelling every single beautiful fragrance displayed on the shelves of Zara. Despite not buying it at the time, I made a note of exactly which perfume I wanted and promised my return. Only a month later, and lovely Polly surprised me with it for my birthday! (Thank you again, you utter babe)

Ever since getting this perfume, it is now my daily go to scent. I've had so many comments on how gorgeous it smells, and have had friends who've gone out and bought it after my recommendation. Priced at only £10 for 100ml, Zara fragrances are perfect for everyday, without a bank breaking price tag. I opted for Joyful Tuberose which is described as floral, fruity and spicy with hints of Blackcurrant, Grapefruit, Lemon, Tangerine, Musk, Sandalwood and Vanilla.

Not only does this scent smell bloody great, it isn't too overpowering meaning it is perfect for everyday, and with a reasonable price tag you definitely don't need to feel guilty. With a gorgeous, opaque baby pink bottle, it looks cute as hell too! Zara have various other scents in this range which I am now desperate to get my hands on.

For me, scent is so personal and it is the way to finish off any look. I don't ever feel complete if I haven't spritzed myself with my favourite scent. No matter what your favourite smell is, there is a perfume out there which will compliment it perfectly, and why splash out on a designer name when that perfume could be bottled in your favourite high street shop?

I'd love to know if you've picked up any high street fragrances, and if you can reccommend any to me?

  7. Haha, this is so strange - I literally just picked up a bottle of this the other day! My fave scent to wear is Chanel Mademoiselle, but you're totally right about high street alternatives being just as good at times. Love your photos of this fragrance, by the way :)
